oooh look ~ exercise does pay off!
This is what I found on my early Sunday morning walk!
I was just saying to my pt/brother in-law Dan, as we walked past piles of council clean up rubbish, that I really was NOT going to be picking up and more fantastic junk finds as my house is at capacity but just as those ill fated words fell from my mouth my eyes spotted this orchy crate and good intentions were swiftly kicked to the kerbside. I had to walk another approx 5kms up and down hills with that, although Dan did offer to carry it for me. It was a great workout!

perfect sunday
A quiet day at home is always nice. I've been catching up on jobs around the house. Can I show you my pride and joy... two tomatoes from the tiny tomato plants I was given at Christmas.
These were my Nan's. I don't use then very often so I took them out of the dark cabinet they were in so
I could at least enjoy looking at them.
This little enamel tin was a score from the lady down the road who had it on her junk pile during the council clean up a couple of weeks ago. You can bet I was all over that in a flash.
My lovely swan found at "Vintage Frills" at Mt Tamborine was a completely practical purchase after all.
Originally Christmas decos but they stay up all year.
Hope you had a relaxed and perfect Sunday!

Magnificent Miniatures In Rue Magazine
Oh goodness I was so delighted to see this feature {small scale style PAGE 42} in the
January issue of Rue Magazine!
Small scale = big love!
I have a bit of a thing for little wee miniatures.
My sister recently had a "Tiny Party" for her little girl and I very willingly unpacked my box of doll's house miniatures to help her decorate accordingly.
Here are some of the photos from the day...
Rue magazine has got me all inspired to get into the shed and haul out the doll's house I found on the side of the road and give it a makeover!
Ahhh Rue magazine - you are starting something I may not be able to finish!
But check it out - so many pages of loveliness!

travelling via books and vintage maps
This little reading corner will have to be disrupted soon to make way for the Christmas Tree
which will go up in about a week - ahh!
The rocking chair was passed down from my mother or was it nan?
I fed and rocked my two baby boys on it.
The lovely map table was a derelict piece of junk on the side of the road a couple of months ago
with a crumbling chipboard top. I really loved the cane frame and the little rusty castors for shoes and wonder what it was used for in it's past life. I tossed the remnants of the top and passed it on to my dad as a project to work on with my boys {I think Dad did most of the work!}.
Dad is my Go To Guy when I need help with anything serious although, especially being a single parent I feel pretty good at doing quite a few things on my own {and by that I mean my 14 yr old helps me quite a bit, strong points being anything electric or digital or from ikea}. After building a new table top he suggested decoupaging the surface with old maps and I think it now looks marvellous!
So between my maps infront of me and my bookcase behind me, I can go anywhere!
I am thinking of painting the cane white - thoughts?

Kerbside ~ the collection continues...
Want to see some more of the junk I've been collecting?
The ladder above I think has been my biggest and proudest conquest so far.
It was one of those days when I was least expecting something cool to happen that I found it.
I was driving home from lunch at a friend's. I had to make my excuses and leave early as I had a hundred really important things to do before picking up my children from school. She got a call from me an hour later asking her to posthaste bring her station wagon round {I'm only about five minutes away, i said} to help me get this little guy home.
She was amazed it had taken me an hour to travel a distance which should have taken five minutes... but I got sidetracked!
There were streets and streets of cool old junk for me to find! I did try and fit this ladder into my magna on my own and it took quite a few arguments between me and my car and some pleading and begging, but I lost the fight and had to ring for back-up.
Of course the two manly men I called up first let me down so in the end I was rescued by a very little lady and her more accommodating vehicle.
It's a very solid and perfectly working ladder {attested to by the man who used it to clean my gutters}.
It is also a fab colour, {which I like to call institute green} and smaller, less cool versions of it are selling for hundreds of dollars at the local antiques centre so I do feel like it was a treasure worth fighting for!
Not sure what I will do with it though.....
Also found was this chair, aged perfectly for me and a big red suitcase and
my 13 year old insisted on this microphone!

Welcome to my new home.
It's been a little quiet here in the suburbs ~ no internet for most of the week! So frustrating... but I think it's fixed for the time being. It's been much cooler this week so perfect for some hard labour fixing up my new house
~ welcome to my new home ~

Still a bit of work to do. I think the pink room will be mine. No mortgage here as we picked this one up for free on the side of the road!
